The Royal Most Graciously Authorized Nordske Compagnie
The Royally Most Graciously Authorized Nordske Compagnie, in simplicity often called Det Norske Compagnie, as well as by some also Fabrikkompani and Sorte kompani, was a company that received its privilege on 21 May 1739 from King Christian VI . In practice, it had the right to exploit all natural wonders, except for what had been exploited by others.
The purpose of the enterprise was "to prepare and bring to fruition the country's products, as well as with the most legitimate and real intention, not only to keep all the money in the country as far as possible, but also to withdraw considerable sums of money from foreign countries every year, to procure many Substitutes business, to cultivate desolate tracts, to promote the flourishing of commerce, and strangely (significantly) to increase our customs as well as nationally glorious incomes.
The activity that the company was to carry out was listed in 30 articles.
The company was never able to achieve any major financial profit and in 1776 the king had to take over the majority of the shares. At the same time, the name was changed to "De Kongelige Octroyerede Norske Glasværker".
